DaniMer produces a variety of additives to help manufacturers and converters process PLA more effectively. As PLA grows in popularity, many processors are leaning that PLA has some inherent processing challenges. DaniMer has formulated several proprietary additives to enhance the mechanical processing and physical properties of PLA. The use of these additives allows PLA to be used in more applications while maintaining the focus on renewable raw materials that fully support the standards for PLA compostability and food contact. 1. Processing Aide – This renewable based additive enables improved processing efficiencies such as higher operating speeds, increased through put and reduced defects. The DaniMer processing aide also provides excellent “ de-nest” characteristics and reduces the materials adherence to metal during processing. This material supports compostability requirements and can be food contact certified.
2. HDT modifier - This renewable based additive that improves the heat deflection of PLA to 190F, enabling PLA to provide the performance characteristics for many thermoformed and injection molded articles. This material is not transparent and will produce some increased opacity dependant upon the percent of additive utilized. This material supports compostability requirements and can be food contact certified.
3. Impact Modifier - This renewable based additive can significantly enhance the impact resistance of PLA, improving the overall toughness while increasing flexibility of the end products . By adjusting the addition rates, the physical properties can vary dependant upon your requirements. This additive can be used with all processes, including thermoforming, blow molding, injection molding and cast or blown film production. It can also be utilized with the DaniMer processing aide to improve through put while also providing a broader range of applications for the finished product.
4. Color concentrates - DaniMer offers a wide range of colorants compounded with a PLA base resin. Our materials are fully compatible with the PLA materials while supporting the use of renewable materials.
